Prior to travelling, the students in the People to People student ambassador program are required to attend monthly meetings. These meetings are designed to allow the students to meet each other and their leaders, learn about the culture, food and customs of the countries they will be visiting, and to learn safety rules and procedures that will result in a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
JULY PICNIC: This was the last time the student ambassadors gathered together before the trip. The picnic was held at the Country Aire Campground in Charlemont. Parents brought food to share and cooked hamburgs, hot dogs, ribs and chicken on the grill. Many of the student ambassadors did some swimming in the pool. The pinning ceremony finished just in time, before the rain began! Click here to see some photos of the picnic.
JUNE MEETING: This was the last meeting before the trip. As expected there were a lot of last-minute details to go over. The student ambassadors received their People to People shirts, lanyards, luggage tags as well as their final itinerary. Everyone is getting excited about the trip!
APRIL MEETING: The highlight of this meeting was a multi-cultural dinner. Each student picked one of the four countries they will be visiting and decided to make either an appetizer, entree or dessert. They were encouraged to sample as much of the delicious food as possible. Parents and relatives attended along with the students, and an enjoyable time was had by all!
MARCH MEETING: This was an art, culture and music meeting. The students were allowed to pick a category (art, culture, music) and each made a presentation for a country of their choosing. Bobbi chose art and showed a painting by Picasso. Several other students grouped together to form a band. Two students played a piano duet.
